1244/2025 - AIS-SART Activation
31/03/2025
The Service was requested by Jersey Coastguard to assist St Helier and St Catherine's lifeboats with a search around the south east of Jersey, following the activation of an AIS-SART.
An AIS-SART is a self-contained radio device used to locate a survival craft or distressed vessel by sending updated position reports using a standard Automatic Identification System (AIS) class-A position report.
Lions' Pride left Guernsey at 2350hrs and en route to the search area, Jersey Coastguard requested that a search be started from Les Dirouilles down to Violet Bank, and then around that general area.
Using the infra-red Wescam and direction finding equipment, various navigational aids and a couple of small fishing vessels were identified and discounted from the search.
After just over an hour of searching, with nothing found and no further information, Lions' Pride was stood down at 0110hrs.
